Last month, a Volkswagen Passat came in from Weston after its owner had been experiencing intermittent warning lights for about three months through the winter and early spring. The lights would appear for a day or two and then clear on their own, a pattern he interpreted as sensor glitches that resolved themselves. He kept…
Last month, a Golf GTI came in from Shinnston after its owner had noticed slow cranking on cold mornings since January but kept dismissing it as normal winter behavior. He assumed once the temperatures warmed up the problem would resolve on its own. By March, the battery failed completely in the parking lot off Emily…
Last month, a Jetta GLI came in from Fairmont after its owner noticed a shudder on light acceleration that had been developing for about three months. He had assumed it was a fueling issue and had run two bottles of fuel injector cleaner through the tank trying to resolve it on his own. After 47,000…
Last month, a 2022 Tiguan came in from a Bridgeport owner who had been ignoring a persistent hesitation on acceleration since buying the vehicle used. He assumed it was normal break-in behavior and kept driving it through the hills off US-50 and onto I-79 for his daily commute. After 14,000 miles of neglect, the high-pressure…
Last week, a 2021 VW Tiguan arrived at our Lodgeville Road service center with an illuminated check engine light. The owner had been driving with the light on for three weeks, assuming it was “probably just the gas cap” and nothing urgent. Diagnostic scanning revealed multiple stored codes: misfires on two cylinders from failed ignition…
Last fall, a 2020 VW Tiguan with 38,000 miles arrived at our Lodgeville Road service center with engine damage after the owner consistently used conventional oil from quick-lube shops, believing it was “good enough” and cheaper than synthetic. Despite following a proper 5,000-mile change interval, the conventional oil couldn’t protect the turbocharged engine’s demanding operation….
Last summer, a 2021 VW Jetta arrived at our Lodgeville Road service center with severe engine damage at only 42,000 miles after the owner consistently used conventional oil from quick-lube shops instead of the required full synthetic. Despite following a proper 5,000-mile change interval, the conventional oil couldn’t protect the turbocharged engine’s high-temperature operation, causing…
Last summer, a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 experienced significantly reduced range and slow charging speeds after the owner assumed electric vehicles required no maintenance beyond tire rotations. After 18,000 miles with zero service appointments, the brake fluid had absorbed enough moisture to trigger system warnings, the cabin air filter was completely blocked (affecting battery cooling efficiency),…
Last May, a brand-new 2025 Volkswagen Atlas broke down halfway up Route 32 near Canaan Valley with a family of six inside, their Memorial Day camping trip ruined before it began. The owner had assumed a vehicle with only 8,000 miles needed no service beyond the included maintenance. Under sustained mountain climbing with a fully…
Three weeks ago, a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan arrived at our Lodgeville Road service center with premature tire wear after the owner left winter tires on through an entire West Virginia summer. The aggressive tread pattern and soft rubber compound designed for snow had worn down 50% faster than all-season tires would have, requiring replacement at…
